Original Post on Itch.io

Hello!

I'm currently creating the side game to Reverie Channel (Currently titled Cogito's Odyssey) and I wanted to share some updates to my project. I also want to share a type of overview for the stuff that I did this year and what might come next.

- Reverie Channel Stuff -

I've been working on Cogito's Odyssey since July (Or at least, that's what it says on the folder's properties anyway), so far I have basically completed most if not all of the main areas. I still have to work on side areas, NPCs, testing certain features and polishing systems that I have already implemented or anticipating to implement. I would say that development right now is going smoothly and I should hopefully be finished next year.

I also wanted to show a sprite and 2 sketches that I made for the game too:

- Newgrounds -

I participated in the Secret Santa event for Newgrounds this year, making this the second time that I have done so. The gift that I created can be viewed here: Secret Santa 2023 Art I hope that I can join a few more events besides this one, Pixel Day is coming up so I'll try to make something for that if I can.

- Things to look forward to -

I'll try to be more consistent with updates once I have more content created for the game, since I'm trying to avoid showing anything that should be left as a surprise. I've also got plans for a project that I can work on after Cogito's Odyssey, I think it'll be exciting to work on and show if I get to it. Anyways, I'll get back to working on Cogito's Odyssey when I can on my free time and I hope that the new year will be great.

Happy New Year!!!

Hello! I have just recently made a Tumblr page. I'll be using it to post smaller updates similar to a devlog rather than posting on bigger things occasionally, hopefully it will help to keep you guys informed about my latest projects there. I'll still post on Newgrounds and Itch.io to show more cool stuff. Today I just released a new image for one of the locations for the new game, check it out!

I've been planning to make an expansion on the story, in regards to Cogito's side. It will hopefully have some improvements that will make it a fresh experience from the original Reverie Channel game. Besides that, I've got a few new things to show for the progress of this "side story".

And this other character:

I also have this item portrait, for seeing items up close in cutscenes:

The progress seems to be going well (so far), I will share more information about the project at a later date.

I just made a postmortem type post on the Itch.io page for Reverie Channel. It talks about the things that happened during the development of the game and includes a sketch of a scrapped character.

You can find it here: Reverie Channel Post Jam

I got some feedback from the Itch.io release, the two reports detailed 2 different situations with clicking a door that caused an error and an item that didn't have a check in a certain event.

Besides that, if you haven't seen Reverie Channel it is a surreal visual novel point and click hybrid with strange characters and a mysterious gate that can be opened.

If you like surreal games, weird point and clicks or strange characters then you might like this!

Reverie Channel is a surreal visual novel point and click hybrid that has a bunch of weird characters and areas.

You play as a character named Ember as he goes through surreal areas filled with weird characters as he searches for the pieces of a key that opens a mysterious gate.

The game is a visual novel point and click hybrid that is almost a kinetic novel except it has 2 endings and has music that includes chiptune and ambience.

If you like weird and surreal games, then you might like this as well!

As the title says, the game is now called "Reverie Channel"! It has a numerous amount of surreal areas and characters. I've got another screenshot of the game, this time its a little more finalized than the previous screenshot.

The game should hopefully be released tomorrow. I really enjoyed creating the game as this is my first visual novel. I did have some trouble with the scope since there was going to be a few other areas and characters. But I still had a lot of fun with this new game.

I'll be talking about it more in depth on the release day.

It's been a while from the last devlog where I showed a screen shot of a background from the game. This time I have a character that I can show along with the style of the game.

(This character is currently named Dan.)

I've been busy finishing up the game and working on a few things along with bug fixes and polishing. The latest release for the game should be on either April 1st or April 3rd. I enjoyed creating this game even through its flaws so I could also try to post some stuff about the development in terms of the concepts.

The game is supposed to be a surreal visual novel with point and click elements. Here is one of the areas for the game.iu_925257_10455860.png

I usually try to do something different for game jams and now I'm focusing on some different aspects for this project. I've also finished some more of the art for different areas.

Virus Valor has been released! The original is on Itch.io: Virus Valor

The game plays similarly to an arcade game. There is a highscore system with a timer and enemies to make the gameplay quick and fun. The game is relatively short but with the highscore system it can encourage more playthroughs.

if you consider playing the game I hope you enjoy!
